Trooditissa Monastery

Situated on the southern slopes of the Troodos mountain range, the Trooditissa Monastery, dating back to the 13th century, is nestled amidst pine trees, offering a picturesque setting. The current church, constructed in 1731, houses a precious silver-leaf-covered icon of the Virgin Mary, reputedly brought from Asia Minor, which is believed to offer hope to childless couples through prayer.

While the exact founding date of the monastery remains unknown, it is thought to have been established shortly after the iconoclastic period by a hermit who dwelled there during those tumultuous times. Both the church and the monastery's ancillary buildings were constructed during later periods, likely towards the end of the 18th or in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Serving as a sanctuary for prayer, the monastery is not open for general visits, although the church welcomes visitors.
